Pink Bow Headband
This bow is part of my decor in the “You’re My Sunshine” Diaper cake. This bow features a classic look that can be worn on any occasion.
Materials you will need:
- 1.5″ wide ribbons
- 0.5″ wide ribbons (for the center)
- Fold-over elastic band
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Needle and thread
First, cut two strips of the 1.5 wide ribbons. One will need to be longer than the other.
Take one piece of the ribbon, fold the raw edges together and sew the edges together. Repeat with the other ribbon.
Cut another piece of the ribbon slightly longer than the sewn up ribbons.
To finish the raw edges of the ribbon that had just cut, run the edges over a lit candle. The ribbons should never be in contact with the fire, just close enough to melt the edges of the ribbon. Be careful not to burn yourself or the ribbon.
Lay the all the pieces like the picture above. Shortest ribbon on top. Now, thread a needle before you do the next step.
Pinch the all layers of the ribbons together
Take your threaded needle and sew all the layers. Wrap the thread around the bow and tie off.
Cut a small piece of the 0.5″ ribbon and sew the raw edges of the fold-over elastic band together. You are ready to glue all the pieces together.
Dab some glue on the back of the bow and attach the fold-over elastic band.
Dab a bit more glue on top of the elastic band and wrap the small ribbon to the center of the bow.
Fold in the raw edges of the small ribbon and secure it with thread.
Now you’re all finished. Pretty easy right?
